Alternative facts: The risks AI chatbots pose to democracy

The European Broadcasting Union has tested AI chatbots for the accuracy of their answers. The result: 45 percent of the answers had at least one significant problem, and in almost a third of cases, the sources cited were incorrect. Experts fear that such fake news could spread via social media and influence elections, for example.
